Creepy Crawly Love: Geckos
You all know I love cats and dogs, but to be honest, I love all animals. A lot of kids (and adults too!) tend to be scared of snakes, lizards and bugs, but I’ve done my best to teach my girls to appreciate even the creepiest of creepy crawlies. They’re really not half bad once you get to know them! So let’s get to know geckos….
Geckos are reptiles and are found on all the continents except Antarctica. Believe it or not, geckos make chirping or barking sounds in addition to others so they can blend in with their surroundings.

A cool thing to know about their tails is that they serve different purposes including balancing their weight as they climb branches, storing fat and camouflage.

What’s kind of freaky is that geckos have no eyelids!
If you’re ever searching for them, keep in mind that most geckos are nocturnal, which means they are active at night.
And here’s a picture of a gecko my daughter caught while we were on vacation last year. We let him go of course.
Pretty cute, aren’t they?
XO, Denise
