DECOR: Making Your House A Home

6306857526:Yahoo:photo

My love of interior design goes way back to my childhood in Downers Grove, Illinois. My parents bought a house that was 100 years old and completely remodeled it themselves. They couldn’t afford to hire anyone to do the work, so my dad did all the work on the house while my mom did the decorating. She was very creative at making our house a home with very little money. My dad would work long hours for the phone company, come home, put on his tool belt and work on our house till 1 AM.

I love decorating and recently did a very extensive renovation on our house. We finally moved back in after almost two years. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears during the process, but the hard work paid off.

In the DECOR section, we’ll talk easy tricks for updating your interior, getting organized and even starting over in a new space. It’s also a place to share progress, ask for advice and get inspired!

To kick things off, let me know what room in your house could use an update the most.

XO, Denise

Eventually when I save enough, I want to remake my home office using items from Ballard Designs. I work at home, and it's important to me to have gorgeous surroundings to spark creativity.

Our kitchen. We are trying to start our family and would love to have it made over before a little baby came home. I am sure I will spend alot more time in our kitchen making baby bottles and homemade baby food.

Kitchen! I live in Mazatlan, Mexico, and I bought a house on the beach...wanted a real beachy look at first. Now I want authentic Mexican, with beautiful Talavera tiles!

My kids' playroom. They are now 10 and 12, since they're not toddlers anymore, I don' t know how to make the space " grow up" with them.
