FAMILY FUN: Make Your Own Pizza Party

As my two older girls are getting a little bigger, they love to help out in the kitchen—especially with our new pizza oven. Our first pizza in the oven was a disaster, but we keep trying. No matter what, it’s always delicious! If your kids like cooking too, you have to try hosting a make-your-own-pizza party. Whether you’re just making dinner for the family or looking for a fun slumber party activity, this is a great cooking project because the kids really can do most of the steps themselves. Even better, everyone gets exactly what they want on their pizza—no arguing over what toppings to order!

You can use premade dough from the grocery store or make your own using this easy recipe, and then simply help the kids roll out pre-portioned balls and allow them to choose from a variety of fun toppings. Then, all you have to do is stick the pizzas in the oven and bake according to the instructions on your pizza stone or at 425 for approximately 15 to 17 minutes if you’re using a heavy sheet pan.

Here are some delicious topping suggestions that adults and kids will love:

Sauces:
Pizza sauce
Pesto
Alfredo

Cheeses:
Mozzarella (Also try buffalo mozzarella in water—it’s so good!)
Fontina
Feta
Parmesan

Toppings:
Sliced olives
Mushrooms
Baby spinach
Fresh tomatoes
Sun-dried tomatoes
Onions
Shallots
Minced garlic
Artichoke hearts
Zucchini
Avocado
Pineapple
Pepperoni
Sliced Italian sausage
Prosciutto

What are your favorite pizza toppings? Mine is just olive oil (no sauce), buffalo mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil. So delish!

XO, Denise

What a great idea...I would also like to try toppings like shrimp or goat cheese...maybe more for an adult gathering!

Love to make a BBQ chicken pizza using BBQ sauce on the crust and topped with shredded chicken, onion, fresh basil & mozzarella!

For a quick dinner, when you don't have time to wait for pizza dough to rise, this is AWESOME...makes a fantastic crust. http://www.recipepizza.com/doughs/thin_crust.htm Top with Hunt's traditional pasta sauce, pre-shredded mozzarella, ham or pepperoni and pineapple chunks. Dinner is ready in a total of about 35 minutes and it tastes like pizzeria pizza. Honest!
