Last-Minute Chocolate Covered Strawberries
I don’t make too much of a fuss about Valentine’s Day, but I like to think of it as a day to tell all of the important people in my life just how sweet they are. There are so many types of candy and gifts to sort through at the store, but nothing says I love you like something homemade. So if you’re looking for an easy last-minute Valentine’s Day treat to impress your loved ones with, I’m a big fan of chocolate-covered strawberries. People tend to save chocolate covered strawberries for special occasions like Valentine’s Day, but these are so easy to make that you could really have them anytime. Plus, they’re healthier and a lot yummier than store-bought chocolates.
Step 1: Put one cup of chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 1½ minutes (stirring once throughout) or until the chips are melted and smooth.
Step 2: Dip strawberries in chocolate and turn to coat evenly. If the chocolate begins to harden as you’re dipping, put it back in the microwave for 10 seconds and give it a stir.
Step 3: Place dipped strawberries on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and set aside to dry.
Or, the even healthier version: Dip your strawberries in Greek yogurt and freeze.
Do you have a favorite homemade Valentine’s Day treat to give?
XO, Denise
