Pet Pointer: Which Houseplants are Safe for Your Pets?

6751379323:Yahoo:photo
Houseplants are a great way to purify the air in your home while adding a nice green touch to the room. I know that my pets enjoy them too though, and for that reason I’ve got to be careful. Did you know that many of the same plants that are known for air purification are actually poisonous to your pets? With all the animals in my family, keeping these safety tips in mind is very important to me!

For my fellow animal lovers, here is a partial list of pet-friendly houseplants:

African Violet
Areca Palm
Aregelia
Bamboo
Bamboo Palm
Bamboo Vine
Boston Fern
Cast Iron Plant
Flame Violet
Fuschia
Gardenia
Gerber Daisy
Gloxinia
Lady Palm
Prayer Plant
Velvet Plant
Spider Plant
Yucca

For a more complete list of toxic and non-toxic plants visit the ASPCA’s website. I hope this helps next time you’re shopping for a new leafy addition to your pet-loving home.

What do you do to make your home pet-proof?

XO, Denise

You also have to watch out for those Silica Gel Packets. Depending on what they were packet in or the size of your dog they can be deadly. On of my little guys got hold of one and I had to make the $50.00 phone call to Animal Poison Control. He was small so they were worried he would not pass the paper also they said it could be dangerous if the the packets has been in medicine. He
did fine, thankfully. I check anything I buy now for the packets and they are removed and trashed before it's taken in the house.

Love all of this info I'm getting from your website of my favorite things. Especially pets and funny videos, I guess that was your curious cat gray and white tabby, very healthy, into everything big eyes and staring at the the camera. Beautiful, I laughed at his silliness, it started me off to a great day.
