I’ve been hard at work on this project for the past few months and I am so excited to share it with you. I teamed up with hairstyling guru Cristophe to create The Denise Richards Volume Extend hair care line, which strengthens and protects hair from the damage continuous styling can cause, boosting the hair’s health and volume.

The line—which consists of shampoo, conditioner and three styling aids—is an entire system that is focused on beautiful, healthy-looking hair. The shampoo’s rich lather is the first on the market to actually condition the hair, and the advanced technology in the conditioner penetrates and plumps the hair shaft, increasing its diameter for thicker hair.

The line is finally launching later this month, so to celebrate, I asked Cristophe to show everyone how he uses the line to achieve certain looks on my hair.

He will be showing you one look each Monday for the next four weeks, and even better, there will be a giveaway to accompany each one.

For the first three weeks I will be giving away a shampoo, a conditioner and one of the three styling aids, and then on the fourth and final week the prize will be two sets of the entire five-piece collection—one for you and one for a friend. In order to be eligible for this grand prize, you must enter each of the three weeks leading up to this one.

To kick it all off, here are Cristophe’s step-by-step instructions for the loose curl and flowing, wavy hair seen here. You can also find more styling tips from Cristophe on his blog.


This look can be achieved with rollers or a large curling iron, 2 inches in diameter. Both should be used vertically when curling the hair. The following instructions are described using a curling iron.

Step 1: On dry or damp hair, spray Volume Extend Volumizing Spray at the roots of the hair to create top body and volume.

Step 2:  Begin styling by running a quarter-sized amount or one pump of Volumizing Crème through the length of the hair. Blow-dry the hair with a round brush to shape the hair and remove any excess water.

Step 3: When using a curling iron, begin towards the top of the segmented piece of hair. Wrap the hair around the curling rod.

Step 4: After a few moments, let go of the hair and have it fall loosely.

Step 5: Blow-dry bangs forward with round brush, parted and pushed to the side, blending into the loose curl style.

Step 6: For a final touch, wrap the hair around your fingers, twisting the curl into the desired effect.

Step 7: Finish the entire style with the Volume Extend Finishing Spray.

This is a great look for a casual party or lunch with friends—a fabulous way to bring out the natural beauty and body of your hair.
