From appearances on E! News and Extra to a photo shoot with Cristophe, I had a busy April promoting my Volume Extend hair care line. Now I’m gearing up for round 2 with my second ShopNBC appearance on May 19, and I couldn’t be more excited. The last time I was on ShopNBC, I had such a great time. The host was the sweetest and the models were just gorgeous. Richie Sambora even called in to offer some words of encouragement and support. Mother’s Day is right around the corner and to be honest it’s a bit bittersweet for me. It’s a day to celebrate being a mother to my three beautiful daughters who are the light of my life and never cease to make me smile, but it’s also a reminder of how much I miss my own mom everyday and wish she were here to see her three beautiful granddaughters. But since I do think it’s always important to stay positive and look on the bright side, I wanted to share a little something that made me laugh this Mother’s Day…

It’s hard to believe that it’s May already. April was an exciting month so I thought I’d put together a little photo recap. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately…

I started off April on spring break vacation with the girls in Hawaii… Not a bad way to begin a month, right?

How sweet is my little island girl?

Then I took Sami and Lola to visit daddy on the set of his new show…

Our pool is finally finished and I love this shot of our fire pit in our grotto.

I did a shoot for my hair care line with Christophe. Our second appearance on ShopNBC will air this month…

And an Extra interview with Terri Seymour…

I had a great time filming my episode of Charlie’s new show Anger Management…

And Lola even came to set with me and helped me with my wardrobe…

I can’t wait to see what May has in store.

I’ve been keeping pretty busy these past few months, and I can’t wait to share everything I’ve been working on with all of you. Here’s a list of the projects I have coming up so that you can make sure not to miss a thing…

Madea’s Witness Protection – I had such a great time working with Tyler Perry and his crew. This hilarious film is coming out on June 29th, and you can watch the trailer right here:

Blue Lagoon – If you’re a fan of the classic 1980 movie, you’re in for a real treat with this remake. It will be airing in June on Lifetime, so stay tuned. Here I am on set with two of my wonderful costars:

Anger Management – It was great to work with Charlie again on his new show. The series premieres in June, and I’ll let everyone know as soon as I find out when my episode airs.

With work, the kids, and (name a million other things here) it’s always nice to have a night in with your closest girlfriends. You can catch up, commiserate, and laugh about the good times as well as the hectic ones. Now, normally firemen aren’t allowed at these girly get-togethers, but would you turn this cutie away? My Month in Photos: Spring Has Sprung

It’s hard to believe that it’s April already! March was a great month for me so I thought I’d put together a little photo recap. Here’s what I’ve been up to:

I did a fun interview with my friend Nancy O’Dell of Entertainment Tonight. If you’re wondering about the outfits, we did a workout at Physique 57!

And the next day I had a shoot in Malibu. Here’s my glam squad getting me camera ready…

And doing some more after-lunch touch-ups...

Then I started filming my latest movie Blue Lagoon. Here I am with two of my co-stars. The movie premieres on Lifetime on June 9th!

It’s been a fun shoot so far and we even had some fake snow one day!

I followed that up with the ShopNBC launch of my Denise Richards Volume Extend hair care line. Here I am right before going live.

And then the girls and I spent their spring break in Hawaii! These lovely turtles were everywhere there.

The best part of any month is always spending time with my daughters. There’s nothing I love more than hugs from my girls at the end of a long day!

I’ve told you about how I make it a rule that my girls stay involved in extracurricular activities, and one of the activities that I always encourage them to participate in is Girl Scouts. My sister and I were Girl Scouts growing up too, and I think that Scouting helps build self-esteem, leadership and teamwork skills. Plus, it’s really a lot of fun!

Eloise, Lola and I came to help Sami and her troop sell Girl Scout cookies the other day and let me tell you, she is quite the little sales girl! I was so proud of her holding up that big sign, and of course bought a few boxes myself. Love me some thin mints!

When I recently asked you all to share your favorite post on the site so far, many of you told me how much you enjoyed hearing about my Two Activities Rule for the girls. I am always happy to share my parenting tips on the site, but today I wanted to hear about some of your own.

What are some of the rules you set for your kids in your home? How do you encourage them to succeed or do well in school? Are there certain things your kids aren’t allowed to do that their friends are? One of the ways I look to be a better parent is by openly discussing questions like these with other moms and dads. They say it takes a village and there is so much we can learn from each other.

I always try to keep my home feeling warm, cozy and up-to-date, but between work, the kids and everything else I’ve got going on there’s not a lot of time left to spend decorating. Fun Activities To Do With The Kids

I have been thinking about some fun activities to do with my daughters. Here are some thoughts that we can all use!

1. Pizza and a movie night.
Every month, we all gather in the living room for a pizza and a movie night. We alternate who picks the movie and what type of pizza we get. If it were my pick, I would choose a comedy, my all-time favorite! During family movie night, there is always smiling, sometimes a few tears (if the movie is sad) and definitely some good, quality cuddling! 4. Be sporty.
Even though we are not all athletic, we love playing a good game of softball or tag in our backyard. Sometimes, we pick nontraditional games like kickball, something that none of us know how to do and that we can all learn together.

5. Inspire Creativity.
Spending time creating crafts with your kids can turn any day into a fun-filled day! In fact, my family can spend hours together coloring, drawing, painting and glittering things up. The kids love it because they get to be creative, and I love it because in the end, I have something beautiful to display in our home.

As you all know, animal rescue is a very important cause to me and my family. Today I wanted to introduce you to our two newest fosters dogs, and I’m hoping that you can help me find a loving home for them…

Earlier this week Sami, Lola and I spent the day volunteering together at a local animal shelter. We were there to help the Best Friends Animal Society with their Pup My Ride program. We ended up taking out over 30 dogs and got them ready for their transport to Utah where they will be adopted. These two dogs weren't able to go on the transport and I couldn't leave them. I didn't want to separate them if one was adopted or worse, ended up being euthanized at the shelter.

There was just something special about the way they looked at us, so we took them home. They are very smart and good listeners. They sit, shake, stay and love to snuggle. They cannot be separated as they are the best of friends and keep each other entertained all day. We think they're probably sisters, and about 2 years old.

Now I still love a chic leather jacket or some sexy leather pants when worn separately, but this outfit proves that you CAN have too much of a good thing! And don’t even get me started on the leather crop top…

Luckily, I can just laugh it off now and remember the time when I could get away with wearing things this daring. I still think fashion should be fun, but I might’ve been having a little too much fun with this one!

Meatless Monday: Grilled Veggies With Lemon Harissa Dressing

Today’s Meatless Monday recipe comes from DeniseRichards.com member Chef Lawrence, and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to share it with all of you. This recipe is a variation on one by The Food Network's Giada De Laurentiis and it sounds delicious! Grilling is one of my favorite ways to cook vegetables. Some of you may have to wait a few more weeks, but it’s always warm enough to fire up the grill in L.A.! Or if you don’t have an outdoor grill, you can always use a griddle pan. The dressing also sounds delicious and easy to make. In case you’ve never cooked with harissa before, it’s a spicy red pepper paste.

Grilled Peppers, Eggplant and Zucchini With Lemon-Harissa Dressing
Serves 4

Ingredients:
2 large red peppers, seeded and cut into 2-inch wedges
1 Italian eggplant, sliced into ½-inch planks
2 medium zucchini, sliced into ½-inch planks
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 sprigs fresh thyme
2 cloves garlic, peeled and grated
fine kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Dressing Ingredients:
2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon harissa
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine ¼ cup of fresh olive oil, fresh thyme and grated garlic. Season with salt and pepper and add sliced vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Heat an outdoor grill or griddle pan. When grill is very hot, place vegetables on grill in a single layer. Cook vegetables on each side for about 2 minutes until well marked. Arrange grilled vegetables on a large platter, slightly overlapping one another.

Dressing Directions:
Combine olive oil, lemon juice and harissa in a large mixing bowl. Whisk and season with salt and pepper. Drizzle over warm grilled vegetables. It is colorful and beautiful.
